The Bayesian Strategist
Before moving into AI, I was a tech and finance journalist, and later an innovation comms man for Oxford and Cambridge universities. Over my time, I worked with all manner of tech: quantum, vaccines, and poverty-fighting social ventures. All the while I asked myself: "when do I get off the bus?"
That changed when I encountered AI while at Oxford. The risk/opportunity matrix is unlike anything I have ever seen in tech: both are off the charts. When ChatGPT launched in 2022, I knew immediately that the biggest barrier to its use would be us: the humans using it. I became Head of AI Enablement at Oxford Nanopore Technologies, a FTSE 250 biotech. There, I developed a cognitive-focused AI strategy, adoption framework, governance, and enablement programme. It was a massive success: widespread adoption and utilisation, hundreds of hours gained, 286% ROI from enablement, 324% from ChatGPT.
I founded Bayes because what I was seeing outside of ONT had become too important to ignore. 95% of companies failing to demonstrate ROI. 90% of CEOs seeing no productivity. Anxiety running wild. The tech got the blame, but the research demonstrated that this was a false fail. The real problem was organisations failing to adopt the most important element for AI: the right mindset. They'd paid for tools, not intelligence.
That's what Bayes does. We work on our side of the Human-AI bridge, giving your people a firmware upgrade for the AGI era, and set you up for success in the world ahead.
